i can’t believe it’s been 6 months since i started interning with painter/illustrator katherine sandoz. without a doubt, she’s been the most helpful, encouraging, and informative person i’ve met during my time at SCAD. it’s a little sad that the internship is over, but i’m leaving it a far more successful illustrator than before.
mission: stretch-a-canvas
today katherine sandoz sat down with fellow intern melissa hagerty and me. the objective? learn to stretch a canvas.
katherine showed us the differences between a good frame and a not-so-good one, different methods of treating the corners, and you just gotta make these things extra tight because savannah is so terribly humid.
mission accomplished!!
rain, rain, go away...
today started off with a failed attempt to make it out to SCAD‘s sand arts festival. well, actually, we did make it out to tybee island, and were met with some very chilly rain, so getting a bloody mary at sting ray’s seemed like a good alternative. eventually the sun came out; i have a pretty strong feeling the bloody mary had something to do with it.
anyhow, there were a few gallery openings this evening. the highlight was the opening of 1704, one of savannah’s newest galleries. katherine sandoz, who i happen to intern for, was one of the featured artists.
